This could be a few things. Without being able to see your chinchillas or their surrounds I can only guess at the problem. If it were only one chinchilla I would suggest that he might have gotten a scratch that is irritating the eye. However a vet should have been able to find this. It could also be signs of tooth problems but this should be accompanied by drooling and the 4 front teeth (2 top, 2 bottom) would be meeting at a slant instead of a straight line. The fact that both of your chinchillas have it makes me think it is some sort of infection. Colds and other respiratory problems would cause watery eyes but your vet should have been able to find that. Which leaves us with some sort of eye infection. Many people have found that an ingredient in tea (Lipton) is very helpful in treating eye problems. Brew the tea as is directed on the box. Once it has cooled to luke warm dip a cotton ball in the tea and hold it over the eye for 10 minutes if you can. Do it a few times during the day and if it is going to work you should see some improvement within 24 hours. If you see no improvement I would get a second opinion from another vet.
